Hidden Food and Environmental Allergies — Your Immune System Is on Alert
Allergies aren't just sneezing and hives — they're an immune system stuck in the on position. We test, we don't guess, so you can stop reacting to everyday life.
If your nose runs every spring, your stomach feels like a balloon after meals, or your skin breaks out and you can’t pin down why. Your immune system is trying to tell you something.
Allergies are one of the most over-explained and under-tested patterns we see at The Wellness Way - Mason. People assume “it’s just pollen,” “it’s just dairy,” or “it’s just stress.” Sometimes that’s true. Often the real trigger list is longer, quieter, and connected to a gut and immune system that have been on alert for years.
You deserve to know what your body is actually reacting to.
Symptoms Patients Describe to Us
If you’re nodding along to most of these, your immune system is asking you to look closer:
- Year-round congestion, post-nasal drip, or sinus pressure that never fully clears.
- Itchy eyes, throat, or skin that flares with no obvious pattern.
- Bloating, gas, or loose stools an hour or two after eating.
- Random hives, eczema, or rashes that come and go.
- Headaches or brain fog that follow specific meals.
- Fatigue that gets worse during pollen seasons or after takeout.
Many of these get explained away as “just allergies” or “sensitive stomach.” Common: but not normal.
What Most Doctors Miss
Standard allergy care usually means an antihistamine, a steroid spray, or a skin-prick panel limited to a handful of inhaled allergens. If the prick test comes back negative, you’re told you don’t have allergies.
The problem: skin-prick testing measures one type of immune response (IgE) and misses the slower, delayed reactions (IgG) that drive most food sensitivities. It also tells you nothing about why your immune system is reacting in the first place, whether your gut lining is leaky, whether your liver is overloaded, or whether chronic inflammation is keeping the alarm on.
A full picture asks better questions:
- Which foods is your body producing antibodies against?
- Are environmental allergens stacking on top of food triggers?
- Is the gut barrier intact, or is it letting partial proteins through?
- Is the liver clearing histamine well, or is it backed up?
When we run the right panels, we frequently find food triggers patients never suspected. And gut patterns that explain why their reactions keep multiplying.
The 3 T’s Behind Allergies
Allergies rarely happen in isolation. The Wellness Way 3 T’s framework helps us look at why your immune system is on alert in the first place:
- Toxins: environmental chemicals, mold exposure, heavy metals, and processed-food additives all push the immune system toward over-reaction. The more loaded the system, the more it flags everyday inputs as threats.
- Traumas. Physical stress, gut injury from past antibiotic courses, or a long history of inflammation create a leaky barrier that lets undigested food particles into circulation. The body sees them as foreign and mounts a defense.
- Thoughts — chronic stress shifts immune balance and weakens the gut lining. Stress doesn’t cause allergies, but it absolutely amplifies them.
You may have one of these driving the bus. You may have all three. We test to find out which.
Our Testing Approach
We use comprehensive lab work. Not just a basic prick test. Depending on your story, your panel may include:
- Immuno Food Allergy Test: IgG and IgE response to ~190 common foods
- Environmental allergen panel. Pollens, molds, dust, dander
- Comprehensive stool analysis when gut barrier issues are suspected
- TWW Basic Panel: inflammation markers, nutrient status, baseline metabolic picture
- Histamine and DAO assessment when reactions are immediate and food-triggered
Tests are recommended, never required. We walk through cost and rationale before ordering anything.
Working Alongside Your Medical Team
If you’re already using prescription antihistamines, an inhaler, or an EpiPen, we don’t change it. Medication decisions stay with your prescribing physician.
Our role is different. We help you see the full picture underneath the reactions, build a Health Restoration Plan around the systems your immune response depends on (gut, liver, inflammation), and partner with your medical team so they can make better-informed decisions over time.
We work alongside your physicians. Not in place of them.
What a Health Restoration Plan May Include
After we have your results, we build a personalized plan. For allergy patients, that often involves:
- Chiropractic care to support nervous system regulation that influences immune balance
- Targeted nutrition to remove the highest-reacting foods and rebuild the gut lining
- Supplementation for the cofactors histamine clearance and immune modulation depend on
- Detoxification support when toxic load is contributing
- Lifestyle adjustments for sleep, stress, and indoor air quality
This is hands-on, one-on-one guidance — not a generic protocol.
