What This Is
Cincy Crunchy is a monthly book club for women in the Mason and greater Cincinnati area who care about their health, their families, and learning together. We meet in person at the clinic, with chairs pulled into a circle, a couch, a coffee bar, and zero pressure to perform.
We read health-focused books — usually one per month, sometimes a chapter at a time — and we break them into manageable chunks so the reading actually fits into a real schedule. Busy moms, full lives, dinner-on-the-table real life. The goal is understanding and conversation, not speed-running a syllabus.
Who It’s For
- Moms who want a space to think out loud about their family’s health without judgment
- Health-curious women who’ve been frustrated by surface-level wellness content and want the real conversation
- Patients of the clinic who want to dig deeper between visits
- Friends and neighbors who don’t have to be a patient to come — bring whoever you’d want to talk about a book with
If you’re a mom in Mason, West Chester, Loveland, or anywhere around Cincinnati who has wondered out loud about hormones, gut health, kids’ nutrition, sleep, autoimmune patterns, or just why does everyone seem this tired — this is built for you.
How It Works
- One book at a time. Voted on by the group at the previous meeting.
- Small chunks. Usually 2–4 chapters per gathering. We adjust based on the book’s density.
- Conversation, not lecture. Dr. Ryan DeNome, DC is there as a participant and a resource for clinical questions — not as a guest speaker. Other members carry just as much weight.
- No homework guilt. If you haven’t finished the chapter, come anyway. You’ll catch up by listening.
- As the group grows, we vote together on topics, books, and even whether the day/time should shift.
What to Expect Your First Time
- Walk in through the main clinic entrance — same door as your appointments
- Coffee, tea, and a small snack spread
- 60–90 minutes of conversation, plus 15–30 minutes of “hang around if you want” afterward
- A friendly ask of who you are, what brought you, and what’s been on your mind health-wise lately
- Zero pressure to talk if you’d rather listen
Past Reads and Themes We’ve Covered
We’ve worked through books on:
- Hormone health and the menstrual cycle
- Kids’ immune systems and the modern food environment
- Gut health and the brain-gut axis
- Functional medicine basics
- Sleep, stress, and the nervous system
You don’t need to have read any of them to join now. Each book stands alone.
How to RSVP
The meeting is free and open. We just like to know who’s coming so we have enough seating and snacks. RSVP via the contact page or call the clinic at (283) 223-8376.
Come as you are. Learn at your pace. Bring a friend if you want.
